A thriving community occurs when police and the community collaborate. This partnership fosters safety through open dialogue, which encourages cooperation in both preventing and prosecuting crimes. Furthermore, working together with the community boosts confidence and support for law enforcement, while also strengthening the trust between deputies and residents. The positive outcomes from this collaboration will lead to strong community ties, ultimately creating a more vibrant and secure community.
Promote a culture of compassion and collaboration
I am a servant leader who believes that creating a healthy work culture begins at the top. Leaders must be healthy themselves and embody traits of strong leadership, such as compassion, empathy, charisma, humor, selflessness, humility, and engagement.
It is essential to collaborate with all community stakeholders to foster a culture of inclusiveness that our FXBG community desires and deserves. Under my leadership, the Sheriff’s Office will prioritize this principle as one of our overarching goals. An inclusive agency is a strong agency, thriving on the diverse perspectives that each member brings, shaped by our various races, genders, and cultural backgrounds.
This type of culture will positively impact our community, making us more relatable to the citizens we serve.
Community engagement and accountability
Community Engagement - Participation in community service programs, such as Narcan training, women's self-defense classes, and mental health programs for juveniles in our schools, is essential. We will continue collaborating with the Police Department on school initiatives, including DARE, enhancing security during school drop-offs, and the Breakfast Buddy program.
Accountability involves maintaining our state accreditation status, which holds the sheriff's office responsible for implementing best practices in law enforcement. This ensures that we consistently demonstrate our commitment to training and education, providing leadership and deputies with the best available training opportunities to enhance their job performance. Policy and oversight are essential components, requiring ongoing reviews of the sheriff's office policies to confirm that they align with best practices in law enforcement standards. Oversight ensures that all personnel are held accountable to the policies and procedures of the sheriff’s office in a fair and consistent manner. Community policing is the practice of collaborating with our community to bridge the gap between residents and law enforcement. This involves working together with all community stakeholders. Officer wellness is also a priority; as an agency, we are committed to supporting all employees and their families, enabling them to perform their duties effectively.
